Welcome!

I’m Dr. Margarita Lewis, and I help adults who have been carrying the weight of past trauma find a gentler way of living. Through therapy, I guide clients toward calm, self-compassion, and emotional balance, using approaches that are warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. My work is about helping you feel safe in your own skin and more connected to yourself and others.

Many of my clients have spent most of their lives trying to hold everything together. On the outside, they appear capable and composed — the ones who get things done, who hold high standards, who rarely let anyone see them struggle. But inside, there’s often a quiet current of unease, a sense that no matter how much they accomplish, something still feels just out of reach. They may carry an invisible heaviness — the echoes of childhood experiences that taught them to stay alert, to anticipate others’ moods, to be “good,” and not cause trouble.

Over time, these survival habits can turn into relentless anxiety. The mind races ahead to all that could go wrong. The body stays tense, as if waiting for something bad to happen. Rest rarely feels restful; joy feels fleeting. And at the heart of it all often lives shame — a painful conviction that they are somehow flawed or unworthy. When mistakes happen or emotions rise, that shame can flood in like a wave, whispering that they’ve failed again, that they should have done better, that peace and belonging are for other people.

I help adults who are ready to step out of this exhausting cycle and begin healing from the wounds that fuel it. My clients often long for a gentler way of being — to feel calm in their own skin, to experience genuine rest, and to stop measuring their worth by how perfect or productive they are. They want to live with less fear and more trust, to feel connected in relationships without the constant pressure to perform or please.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I integrate mindfulness and self-compassion with deeper emotional processing, helping clients meet the parts of themselves that have long felt unlovable or unsafe. For those carrying the weight of painful memories, I offer evidence-based trauma therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). These methods gently support the mind and body in processing what once felt unbearable, allowing clients to reclaim a sense of calm, safety, and wholeness.

In my work, therapy becomes more than problem-solving — it becomes a space of reconnection. A place to breathe, to rest from striving, to begin seeing yourself with the same kindness you’ve shown others. Over time, subtle shifts begin to take root: you breathe a little easier, speak to yourself with more gentleness, and find moments of stillness where there used to be only tension. The old patterns of shame and fear slowly loosen their grip, and a quieter, steadier self begins to emerge — one that knows, deep down, that you are enough, just as you are.
